Mosques & islamic centers in South Korea

There are 8 mosques and few other islamic centers in South Korea spread in different places ranging from Seoul, Busan and some other places. Please note that non muslims are allowed you to enter the compound to visit the mosque. Just please be sure to bring modest clothes, and women, please cover your heads during the visit.

1. The Seoul Central Mosque ( Masjid Seoul - 서울 중앙성원)


The mosque is located in downtown Seoul in Itaewon, Seoul Central Mosque is the first permanent mosque located in South Korea and is the only mosque in Seoul. The mosque was built in 1976, with the assistance of the Korean government and a large monetary contribution from Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries.
The mosque has three floors, which have different functions. On the first floor there is a Korean Muslim Federation offices and meeting rooms, while the prayer hall on the second floor and three. In this place also built a madrassa used as an Islamic educational institution for children, Islamic Culture Research Center and other Islamic organizations.

2. Mosque Busan


Busan is the second Masjid mosque that was founded in South Korea. Built in 1980, with financial support from Fellaq Ali, former Minister of Finance of Libya. The mosque is located at 30-1 Namsan-dong Keumjeong-ku, Busan. In this mosque, everyone can learn more about Islam in South Korea. They also have computer class, arabic class, English Class, regular Islamic lectures on Sundays from 11am to 12pm and Daily Islamic lectures in the center.

3. Masjid Gwangju


Gwangju Mosque is the third mosque built in Korea. Located in Yeok-dong 48-9, Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do. Gwangju mosque was opened in 1981. The mosque is the only mosque in Gwangju. The mosque is managed by the Korea Muslim Federation.

4. Mosque Jeolla-do / Jeonju


Jeonju is a city that has a tradition and Korean art with beautiful harmonies. The harmony, also shown in Jeonju Mosque which has a Korean and Islamic architecture.


5. Masjid Ansan


The mosque is located at 741-5, Wongok-dong, Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do. The mosque is usually used by Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Indonesia working near Ansan Industrial Complex. Ansan masjid has been rebuild with great facilities. Masjid owned by muslim providing 5 prayers a day plus the tahajud and the jumaa salat u can take wodu there or even take a room in the first floor also ther is a hallal food shop

6. Masjid Anyang


Not far from Seoul, stands a mosque named Masjid Anyang. Just like Ansan, this mosque was also used by the South Korean immigrant. But mostly immigrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan who worship at this mosque.Its very closed to Anyang University.Just Go left street from main gate of University.

Direction :From Myeonghak train station (line 1) just take a taxi (about 3000 won – august year 2008 rate) to anyang university

7. Bupyeong Masjid


Located at the east end of Incheon, or between Seoul and Incheon, Bupyeong mosque is a place of worship for Muslims who work in the area and its surroundings, including the Namdong Industrial Complex in Incheon. , The mosque is located at 574-19, Sipjeong-dong, Bupyeong-gu, Incheon.

8. Masjid Gyeonggi / Paju


The mosque is located near the river Injin, which lies between Seoul and the North Korean city of Kaesong. , The mosque is located at 421-9, Yeongtae-ri, Wonreung-myeon, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do.
